The Gorge : A Review
It appears that Apple + and Disney, have completely opposite business models.
Apple plus has taken a movie with essentially 2 main actors, with a minimal set budget, and turned it into a visual masterpiece. The genre of this movie is hard to pin down, and if you had to give it one label, it would be nearly impossible. There are elements of Action / Adventure, along with an intensely well plotted love story, giving it elements of a Rom / Com also. Then just when you begin to think that you have figured out what's in the Gorge, BAM.. the left hook comes out of nowhere with elements of Sci - Fi that are believable enough that they make you think of your own governments dark secrets.
The way that Apple differs from Disney, is I can not imagine a massive casting budget given the amount of screen time dedicated to our movies 2 heroes. The leading lady Drasa, is played by Anya Taylor-Joy, and she delivers a character so believable and relatable, that you worry for her safety at points. Then we have the leading man Levi Kane, who is played by Miles Teller. Let me just say, this movie is his Magnum Opus. At least when it comes to the roles that he has been dealt thus far. His portrayal of a black ops soldier Levi Kane, as both a competitor to Drasa in a friendly way, and a man that falls madly in love in the most dire of situations is brilliantly portrayed.
The ultimate question is answered in this movie, one that every couple has pondered. That one question “Are they willing to go through hell to save each other?” You certainly find out, and that's all I really have to say.
I could prattle on about this movie for days, but any more and I would be majorly spoiling the whole damned thing.
Summary :
10 out of 10, on the Ten Thumb Rating Scale.
Camera work 👍🏼👍🏼
Acting 👍🏼👍🏼
Plot Delivery 👍🏼👍🏼
Effects and Set 👍🏼👍🏼
Originality of Story 👍🏼👍🏼
In the last three years, we have seen no shortage of reboots, prequels, sequels, and some straight up knockoffs as far as movies go. This has no common elements with those worn out stories and stack of recent flops. That being said, this movie is hands down one of the most entertaining films that I have seen in years.
Let me finish by saying, not a fan of Apple as far as phones and computers go. Never have been, and can't see myself starting anytime soon. Their library of work as far as movies and series go however, has been surprisingly impressive.

The trailer is good, but does it little justice.
