There's far more than lost cave art. For instance, the Smithsonian itself said that yes, we may have hidden the truth about giants. The Smithsonian didn't like the idea of giants as it supported the bible. And so much more. For instance, that Graham Hancock may well be right, that circa 10,000 BC or so (he has a more exact date) a comet impact wiped out a previously advanced civilisation. And that there may have been civilisations before that. Long before that.

A problem not limited to the Smithsonian, though they may be the most egregious perpetrators.

Forgive me corrections, but your usage of the words sight, site and cite are a little mixed up. Sight is seeing, site is a location, cite is to reference.
